Egyptian Zodiac Sign Hathor

Are you passionate? Do you often find yourself at the extreme of emotions? Do you love music and dance? If so, you have a lot in common with our next Egyptian Zodiac Sign: Hathor.

Traditional Dates Based on the Decans: not a part of Egyptian Astrology

Date Used After Greek Influence: May 26 – June 24

(Note: If you want information on why there are two dates, see: Egyptian Astrology.)

Characteristics of the Egyptian Zodiac Sign Hathor: If your sign is Hathor, you are emotional and quite the romantic. You make the most of life and always find yourself coming out on top.

Even though you are quite the charmer, your intense emotions can easily leave you jealous and angry.

As a natural extrovert, you do well out in the public helping others and in the arts.

About Hathor: Hathor was one of the most important deities in Ancient Egypt. She had so many titles and tasks that she was connected to every part of Egyptian life and death.

Hathor was the goddess of love, music, the earth and the sky. She was viewed as the personification of the Milky Way on Earth.

Hathor's cult was unusual in that it contained men and women as priests (other deities only had priests of the same gender as the deity). Her cult was also unique because music and dance were part of the worship of Hathor…naturally fitting for the goddess of music.

Even though Hathor was one of the most ancient Egyptian deities, she didn't become popular in Egyptian Astrology until after the Greeks began ruling Egypt. Her similarity to Aphrodite made it easy for the Greeks to identify with her.
