Do you ever feel like you have the weight of the world on your shoulders, as if you're responsible for keeping everything going? Do you feel like you're holding everything in place so that life can continue? If so, you might have a lot in common with the God Shu who gives name to our next Egyptian Zodiac Sign, Shu.

Traditional Dates Based on the Decans: not a part of Egyptian Astrology

Date Used After Greek Influence: January 26 – February 24

(Note: If you want information on why there are two dates, see: Egyptian Astrology.)

Characteristics of the Egyptian Zodiac Sign Shu: If your sign is Shu, you are very creative and talented. Everything you touch is a success. Yet, despite your great abilities, you don't always trust yourself and take action because you're afraid you might fail. This can cause you to miss out on many great opportunities.

You have quite the sense of humor and often find yourself surrounded by others as you tell a hilarious tale.

You care greatly about others and often find people coming to you for advice. Your warm heart is noted and of great value.

Your principles guide you in all that you do.

About Shu: Shu was one of the first gods to be created by Atum. Shu is the god of air and light. His domain over air also makes him the creator of wind.

Shu is believed to be responsible for holding up the sky and keeping it separate from the earth. He did this by physically separating his children Nut – the sky – and Geb – the earth (see picture above). If Shu ever moved from his place between them, it was believed that chaos would occur and all life would end.

Shu was responsible for protecting and punishing souls in the afterlife. Those who were found worthy climbed the ladder of Shu and enter into the “Light Land.” Any souls found unworthy were destroyed by Shu.
