Wadjet Egyptian Zodiac Sign

While Wadjet only became an astrology sign after Greek influence, the goddess Wadjet is one of Egypt's most ancient deities. She is as shrouded in mystery as the Egyptian Zodiac Sign Wadjet is filled with caution and suspicion.

Traditional Dates Based on the Decans: not a part of Egyptian Astrology

Date Used After Greek Influence: October 28 – November 26

(Note: If you want information on why there are two dates, see: Egyptian Astrology.)

Also known as: Wadget, Uto, Buto, Edjo, Uatchet

Characteristics of the Egyptian Zodiac Sign Wadjet: If your sign is Wadjet, you are cautious, surveying things with a cool rationality before you act. You know that not everything is as it appears, and not everyone always has your best interests at heart. This can make you suspicious and pessimistic at times, but you know it's better to be safe than sorry.

You are very loyal to your beliefs and very giving to those around you.

You enjoy creating things, whether it's in there hands-on, getting dirty, or behind the scenes directing others in the work. Sometimes you appear to think your way is the only way, but it's only because you want things done right.

About the god Wadjet: Wadjet was one of the oldest Egyptian deities. She began as the protector of the city Buto (now Desouk). Later, she became the patron of Lower Egypt. When Lower and Upper Egypt were unified, she was no longer a distinct goddess, but was rather the personification of Lower Egypt. She joined with her sister Nekhbet, the patron of Upper Egypt, to protect the unified Egypt.

Wadjet created the papyrus plant, and protected pharaohs, children, and women during childbirth. She was depicted as a cobra or a woman with a cobra's head. She often had a sun disc over her head, indicating she was a sun deity. Whenever you see an image of a pharaoh with a snake on their crown or coming out of their head, the snake represents Wadjet.

Wadjet's identity blurred over time, merging with Bast and finally being fully absorbed by Mut.
