Celtic Elder Zodiac Sign

Celtic Elder Astrology Sign: November 25 – December 22

Ogham Letter: Ruis

About the Celtic Elder: The elder tree has been important since the most ancient times. Pictures of its leaves were carved on flints used in funeral ceremonies, where the image of the leaf meant both death and rebirth. This meaning continued with the Celts with the Celtic Elder falling into the month of the winter solstice – a time representing life and death.

The Celts believed the elder tree was a tree of judgement and protection. The Druids passed judgement under the tree. The branches were hung above stables to protect horses from evil spirits. The leaves and flowers were used to keep insects away. The tree was thought to offer protection from lightning, and houses were built next to elders for this reason.

Elder flowers were used to treat everything from warts to colds to epilepsy. Elderberries were ate by humans and birds alike, and still are today.

Celtic Symbol: Black Horse

Characteristics of the Celtic Elder Zodiac Sign: If you're a Celtic Elder sign, you grow up slowly. You waste a lot of time while you're young, but find the success you seek as you get older. You like the finer things in life and need to watch your finances so that you don't over do it and encounter financial problems as a result. You're curious about everything and love to learn. You're bound to study abroad at some point in your life.

New Moon Elder: If you were born during the first two weeks of the Celtic Elder Sign, you are a New Moon Elder. You're a very good speaker, using your skills to fight for what you believe in. You are very high energy and are quick to respond to life, often following your impulses rather than your mind. You do best focusing on one or two things at a time, rather than trying to accomplish everything at once. You love spending time outside, engaging in physical activities – hiking, gardening, sports – anything that lets you work off your energy. Of all the Celtic Zodiac Signs, you're the most likely to climb Mt. Everest.

Full Moon Elder: If you were born during the last two weeks of the Celtic Elder Sign, you are a Full Moon Elder. You prefer to work in the background where you aren't the center of attention. You want to make the world a better place and are a champion against tyranny. You have a great sense of humor and easily entertain everyone around you. You can achieve whatever you set your mind to, it's just that getting you to set your mind to something can be a challenge. There are just so many interesting things to see and do!
