Do you ever feel that you're at the center of creation or that you shine as brightly as the sun itself? If so, there's a good chance you fall under the Egyptian Zodiac Sign Amon-ra.

Traditional Dates Based on the Decans: January 8-21 and February 1-11

Date Used After Greek Influence: April 26-May 25

(Note: If you want information on why there are two dates, see: Egyptian Astrology.)

Also called: Ra, Amun, Amun Ra, Amon

Characteristics of the Egyptian Zodiac Sign Amon-ra: If your sign is Amon-Ra, you are optimistic, intelligent and stubborn. You're a great leader with a strong intuition. You have little tolerance and stand firm in your decisions. You have a generous nature and are often rewarded by having many great opportunities come to you. Your path in life may not always be an easy one, but when you focus within and are true to yourself, you can achieve greatness.

About the God Amon-ra: Amon-ra was the Ancient Egyptian God of creation and the Sun God. He gave humans the ability to speak and was closely associated with fertility. While his sacred animal was originally the goose, he is sometimes depicted with the head of a frog, the head of a crocodile or as an ape.

Amon-ra was viewed differently from other deities. He had an air of mystery to the Ancient Egyptians. You might say he was more revered or separate from the other Gods in the eyes of the Egyptians. He was even considered to be separate from the created universe, so separate in fact, that he even created himself. At the height of the worship of Amon-ra, the other Gods were seen as forms of Amon-ra, making him the one and only God of Ancient Egypt.

Egypt was believed to be ruled by Amon-Ra through the pharaohs. In exchange, the pharaohs supported the worship and the temples of Amon-Ra.

How did Amon-ra rule through the pharaohs? The Ancient Egyptians believed Amon-ra was connected to the pharaoh because he supported the pharaoh and was the physical father of the pharaoh. You see, he took the pharaoh's form to impregnate the pharaoh's wife with the next pharaoh.

You've probably heard similar stories throughout history, from the Emaculate Conception and the Virgin Mary to the conception of King Arthur. Here, the pharaoh's father (Amun-ra) is pretending to be the pharaoh to have sex with the pharoah's wife in order to conceive the next pharaoh who will be his son and his grandson.

For this of you who are wondering, “What about when the pharaoh was a woman, such as Cleopatra?” I don't know.

I wonder if there's a special card section in Hallmark for that…
